Slim’s has always been about being one of the best music venues in San Francisco. The building that houses the club was originally a restaurant known as the Warehouse that was taken over by Boz Scaggs in the later part of 1987. The venue’s last event was a party held by owner Boz Scaggs and his partners on December 31, 1987, to celebrate the closing of The Warehouse before its remodeling that would turn it into a worthy nightclub. The remodeling that followed took most of the year, with the newly redubbed Slim’s finally opening on September 16, 1988, with Katie Webster, Anson Funderburgh, Delbert McClinton, and ‘Presidio Slim’ (a.k.a. Boz Scaggs) being their opening acts.
