The seniors at Drake Terrace, a Kisco Senior Living community in San Rafael, were immersed in Italian culinary and cultural experiences, including an interactive crostata baking demonstration, in late July. 

“With international travel still so difficult, we wanted to provide our residents the opportunity to sample another country’s cuisine, history, and heritage safely. Taste, Travel, Explore allows residents to do this from the comfort of their homes,” Ricardo Romero, executive director of Drake Terrace, said.

Dining Service Director Haymen Surendran, a fully-fledged pastry chef, lead the hands-on crostata baking class. Other events throughout the week included a performance by an opera singer; an Italian art exhibit; and a tasting of Italian wines.

Taste, Travel, Explore will also help transport residents to Ireland, Guatemala, and the Philippines through activities and food in the coming weeks.
